Telescopic Hydraulic Cylinders
Your Reliable Supplier of Telescopic Hydraulic Cylinder
Telescopic hydraulic cylinders are perfect choices in limited spaces. It’s more complicated in structure than normal cylinders and require higher precisions in concentricity and lower tolerance in manufacturing.
We have many years experiences in producing Telescoping hydraulic cylinder, they are used in many different industries like mining machines, agricultural equipment etc. Taking the dumping trucks for examples, we produce the cylinders for dumping truck manufacturers in Iran, Turkey and China. With our strict machining precision and quality control, we can make sure our piston rods no deforming, no leaking under frequent start and stop under heavy load conditions.
Please provide us your drawing or samples, our engineer team will review all details and provide you any optimization advices when necessary.

Applications of Telescopic Hydraulic cylinders

Dump Trucks
Telescopic hydraulic cylinders are widely used in dump trucks. For unloading, the cylinders lift the cargo box with hydraulic power to discharge materials. For retraction, they pull back under the weight of the cargo box.
Thanks to their compact retracted size, they save space inside the truck body, allowing larger cargo capacity, improving transport efficiency.

Aerial Work Platform
Telescopic hydraulic cylinders power the booms on aerial lift, through the hydraulic system work, their sleeves extend and pull back to lift or lower the boom.
This moves the work platform up to working height, or folds it back for travel. The piston rod moves smoothly, keeping operations steady for working at height.

Truck Cranes
Multi-stage cylinders are also used in truck cranes.
Installed directly inside the telescopic boom, they drive both boom extension and luffing movements, enabling precise load handling in complex working conditions.
Built with high-strength sleeves, these cylinders can adopt frequent lifting cycles, maintain smooth telescoping performance over time, and low upkeep

Road Header Cutting System
The telescopic cylinder is the actuator for the cutting system of road headers. It pushes the front cutting head forward to cut into coal seams and rock formations, accomplishing rock-breaking and tunneling operations.
With a thickened cylinder wall and double-layer sealing structure, the cylinder withstands heavy impact from rock masses and blocks dust.

Hydraulic Support
Nested cylinders are widely deployed in underground coal mining, such as for hydraulic supports, driven by hydraulic cylinders, a series of operations including roof supporting, conveyor pushing and self-propelling are realized.
Manufactured from high-strength steel and equipped with innovative sealing structures, these cylinders guarantee reliable operation under high-pressure conditions.

Hatch Cover
Multi-stage cylinder are installed on both sides of hatch coamings to drive hatch covers for sliding or folding-over movements. When opened, they enable cargo loading and unloading; when closed, they compress sealing strips to secure tight sealing.
Marine environment is with high salt spray and high humidity, the piston rods adopt 316L stainless steel or double-layer nickel-chromium composite plating for outstanding salt-spray corrosion resistance and a long lifespan of piston rod.

Furnace Door Lifting Mechanisms
Telescopic rams are also widely used in the metallurgical industry. In furnace door lifting mechanisms, the cylinder drives a chain system to open and close the furnace door, facilitating material smelting operations.
The piston rod features a specially coated surface, which preserves its hardness in high-temperature environments, effectively reducing scoring and extending service life.

Drill Rig Feed System
Telescopic hydraulic cylinders are widely used in oil and gas drilling equipment, where they connect to the power head to drive the drill pipe.
Their multi-stage telescopic structure allows for extended drilling strokes within limited space, to boost overall efficiency.
Every weld seam is rigorously inspected via non-destructive testing, guaranteeing the strength to endure high-frequency impact loads.
Stick-Slip and Vibration Issues in Telescoping Hydraulic Cylinders
Mult-sectional hydraulic cylinders work through constant extension and retraction, which creates high friction and an imbalance between static and dynamic forces.
This often causes a "stick-slip" effect—resulting in poor positioning, slow response, and a jerky, inconsistent motion that compromises operator control.
Our solution: mirror-polished piston rods for ultra-low friction, paired with low-friction seals that reduce the difference between static and dynamic friction so stick-slip and vibration are effectively eliminated.
We also advise setting up a routine lubrication plan, using high-quality grease on all sliding surfaces. This simple step reduces friction, cuts down wear between sleeves, and keeps your equipment running smoothly for longer.

Extension Sequencing Issues in Hydraulic Telescopic Cylinders
In multi-stage telescopic cylinders, the larger diameter sleeves extend first and retract last. But when the effective areas, friction levels, and oil flow aren't properly balanced across stages, that order falls apart. Stages may extend or retract out of sequence, which can cause the boom to bend, parts to collide, and eventually structural damage that affect the machine works.
Facing this issue, we take all the relevant factors into consideration during the sleeve design so the rams move in the right order under real working conditions. We also add orifice structures and damping control in the every sleeves and reduce impact risk. Every cylinder goes through a full-sequence test before leaving the factory, so you know the extension and retraction logic stays stable, cycle after cycle.
Wide Temperature Swings Issues in Telescopic Cylinders
Telescoping cylinders are often used in harsh environments. In cold regions, the temperature difference between cold start and full operation can be over 100°C. Different components expand and contract at different rates, rapid temperature changes cause significant fluctuations.
The sleeve stages don't heat or cool evenly, causing leaks and compromising machine operation.
