Long Stroke Hydraulic Cylinders
Your Reliable Supplier of Long Stroke Hydraulic Cylinders
Long stroke hydraulic rams deliver precise movements even under heavy-load conditions. However, minor misalignment can lead to piston rod bending, while pressure fluctuations accelerate abnormal wear of seals.
With over ten years of experience manufacturing long stroke hydraulic rams, we demand high standards for these products in structural rigidity, smooth operation and full-stroke stability. During production, we equip cylinders with high-grade surface protection for high-salt-spray environments. We increase the hard-chrome plating thickness to 50 μm and apply sealing treatment to the coating.
We provide highly flexible custom services, offering alternative material and process options to meet your needs according to your equipment type and working conditions.

Applications of Long Stroke Hydraulic Cylinders

Food Pressing Equipment
Long stroke cylinders are widely used in food pressing machinery such as large fruit and vegetable extractors and edible oil presses. The cylinder piston rod pushes the pressing plate down and applies heavy pressure on materials within the pressing barrel. These applications demand very high thrust and power density. With their long-stroke design, the cylinders drive the pressing plate all the way down from the top in a single stroke, fully squeezing materials for solid-liquid separation.

Metallurgical Equipment
Long stroke hydraulic cylinders are widely used in applications such as ejecting materials from casting electric furnaces and continuous casting production lines. These applications require cylinders with extra-long strokes to support wide-range operations. Long stroke cylinders deliver smooth, powerful linear thrust over long distances. They can push large high-temperature castings formed in electric furnaces smoothly onto conveyor roller tables, or shift slag ladles loaded with hot molten slag long distances from the furnace bottom.

Water Conservancy Equipment
Long stroke hydraulic cylinders are widely used on hydraulic engineering equipment. Connected to sluice gates via piston rods, they power the gates to lift, lower, open and close. Such applications demand high operational stability and ease of maintenance. Featuring a simple structure that enables easy maintenance, long stroke hydraulic cylinders operate reliably during

large-Scale Infrastructure Machinery
Long stroke hydraulic cylinders are widely used on large infrastructure machinery including beam transporters and heavy bridge erectors. They drive lifting gear for vertical motion, and also enable longitudinal and transverse movement of bridge erectors. Such applications demand high precision in motion control. With long stroke lengths and accurate positioning, long stroke hydraulic cylinders support accurate lifting and erection of thousand-ton-class precast girders.

Port Machinery
Long stroke hydraulic cylinders serve as actuators for heavy-duty equipment including port cranes and ship unloaders in port machinery. These applications require excellent load capacity, corrosion resistance and weatherability from equipment. Equipped with stainless steel piston rods, ceramic anti-corrosion coatings and multi-stage sealing arrangements, the cylinders deliver stable and reliable long-term operation in salt-laden corrosive environments.

Sanitation Machinery
Long stroke hydraulic cylinders power garbage compactor trucks to lift waste from collection hoppers to the top of compactor bodies. These applications demand great heavy-load capacity, wear and scratch resistance, as well as acid-alkali corrosion resistance. Long-stroke cylinder piston rods feature hard chrome plating or laser cladding wear-resistant coatings. Equipped with multi-stage dust seals and acid-alkali resistant sealing elements, the cylinders prevent rod scoring and maintain stable long-term operation in muddy water, dust and corrosive wastewater environments.

Rail Transit Equipment
Long stroke hydraulic cylinders power railway switch machines to shift and lock switch points, ensuring trains travel safely along the designated routes. These applications demand excellent long-stroke output capacity, operational reliability and safety performance within compact installation spaces. With a simple structure, long stroke hydraulic cylinders work with hydraulic locks to maintain stable pressure over extended periods, securely locking switch points and ensuring safe railway operation.

Petroleum Extraction Equipment
Long stroke hydraulic cylinders can be mounted inside pumping unit frames to power downhole oil pumps for suction and discharge. These applications demand excellent ultra-long stroke capability, heavy-load output and adaptability to confined spaces. Long stroke hydraulic cylinders have a maximum stroke of 15 meters to satisfy long-distance operation needs for deep well extraction. Featuring a compact design, they fit confined spaces on offshore oil production platforms.
Piston Rod Deflection and Instability on Long Stroke Hydraulic Cylinders

Control Failures on Long Stroke Hydraulic Cylinders
Long stroke hydraulic cylinders feature long oil routing. When high-pressure oil flows to the piston chamber, it must first fill the volume created by hose expansion. This causes sluggish response and poor control over fine movements. After shutdown, fluid inertia may push the piston forward. Without a cushioning structure, the piston will strike the cylinder base, creating noise and even causing cracks on the cylinder bottom.
To solve this problem, We place the inlet and outlet ports at the ends of the barrel, close to the piston’s stroke limits, to reduce unnecessary oil travel inside the cylinder. Meanwhile, We equip the piston with adjustable cushioning. In addition, we closely control the fit clearance between the piston and guide bushing. During factory tests, we simulate the customer’s actual oil delivery speed and load conditions. We will iteratively measure breakaway friction and check low-speed operation to ensure smooth cylinder performance.
Low-Speed Stick-Slip and Vibration on Long-Stroke Hydraulic Cylinders
Long stroke hydraulic cylinders often suffer from stick-slip and vibration when running at low speeds, as the long stroke lets different frictional disturbances keep accumulating. The piston rod sags under its own weight and creates eccentric loading, which causes fluctuating friction at the seals. Bore dimensional deviations cause constant changes in friction force. In addition, long piping tends to trap air, aggravating cylinder stick-slip.
To solve this problem, we extend the guide bushing and fit bronze wear-resistant guide strips to restrain piston rod deflection and reduce friction fluctuations caused by eccentric loading. Next, we apply a dedicated honing process for long barrels and machine cross-hatch oil-retention textures onto the barrel bore to suppress frictional disturbances. Besides, for ultra-low speed applications, we recommend installing air vent valves to fully purge trapped air inside the cylinder.
