Clevis Mount Hydraulic Cylinders
Clevis mount hydraulic cylinders feature clevis ends at one or both cylinder ends for connection to machinery, allowing pivoting movement while operating, and the working pressure up to 31.5 MPa. They are ideal for use in construction machinery, agricultural equipment and heavy-duty industrial machinery.
The cylinder barrel features diverse material options, such as seamless steel pipe and alloy steel to suit different working conditions. After honing, the surface achieves roughness Ra 0.10-0.40 μm. The piston rod, made of alloy structural steel with hard-chrome plating, achieves hardness HV 850-1050. Clevis ends are forged from alloy steel, and the pin holes are machined to H7 tolerance to avoid jamming or excessive play.
Our clevis-mounted cylinders can be custom based on your drawings or specs. All welds on clevis ends undergo non-destructive testing before delivery.
Your Reliable Supplier of Clevis Mount Hydraulic Cylinders
Cylinder with forked ends pivot around the clevis pin during operation. Side-loading generated by pivoting acts on the pin holes and clevis ends. Insufficient machining precision for pin holes or excessive clearance may result in piston rod deformation.
With years of experience manufacturing hydraulic cylinders with clevis mount, we demand very high machining precision for pin holes and value the plating quality of piston rods, balancing both thickness and hardness to minimize rod wear during fork mount cylinders pivoting. Furthermore, we can produce clevis-mounted cylinders according to different operating conditions, including heavy impact, corrosion and dust. Our clevis mount hydraulic cylinders have been widely used in multiple industries, such as construction machinery and agricultural equipment.
We offer highly flexible customisation services. Based on your equipment type and working conditions, we provide alternative material and process options following your requirements.
Clevis Mount Hydraulic Cylinders
Clevis Mount Hydraulic Cylinder Types

Head Clevis Cylinder
Head clevis cylinders feature a U-shaped clevis structure at the piston-rod extending end, pivoting around the pin when connected to equipment via clevis pins. They are mainly used on machinery such as loaders and forklifts.

Cap Clevis Cylinder
Cap clevis cylinders feature a welded U-shaped clevis bracket on the closed end of the barrel, pivoting around the pin when connected to equipment via clevis pins. They are widely used on machinery such as tractors and vehicle-mounted lifts.

End Clevis Cylinder
End clevis cylinders have a U-shaped clevis joint at the piston-rod end to transfer cylinder thrust to machine components via clevis pins. They are mainly used on machinery such as belt conveyors and assembly robots.

Double Clevis Cylinder
Double clevis cylinders feature U-shaped clevis mounting brackets on both ends, which are secured directly to equipment supports via clevis pins. They are mainly used on machinery such as bulldozers and crushers.
Applications of Clevis Mount Hydraulic Cylinders

Oilfield Machinery
Clevis mount hydraulic cylinders are widely used in drilling, workover, and offshore platform operations. These cylinders are mounted on drilling rig bases via pin connections to lift and lower drilling derricks. Such working conditions feature very limited installation space. Due to their compact structure and direct pin connection design, clevis eye cylinders maximize space savings.

Emergency & Rescue Equipment
Clevis mount hydraulic cylinders are widely used in emergency rescue, acting as actuators for rescue operations such as supporting and spreading. Such working conditions demand high equipment reliability. The outrigger cylinders of rescue vehicles are connected to the vehicle chassis via clevis pin connections. When extended to support the ground, the cylinders improve vehicle stability and prevent rollover.

Mining and Metallurgical Machinery
Yoke mount cylinders are widely used in mining and metallurgy. With their special connecting structure and drive design, they adapt well to harsh operating conditions. Under such operating conditions, equipment suffers severe vibration,. The clevis pin connection allows the cylinder to pivot within a certain range. This prevents lateral forces from acting on the piston rod, effectively avoiding piston rod scoring and ensuring efficient power transmission.

National Defense Equipment
U-bracket cylinders serve as core actuators for operations such as mobility and locking on various weaponry and military support equipment. They are widely used in military vehicles and military aviation equipment. Such applications demand extremely high stability and reliability of equipment under extreme environments. Clevis-mounted hydraulic cylinders are manufactured from high-strength materials and feature special sealing structures, so to withstand harsh operating conditions.

Construction Machinery

Industrial Machinery
Clevis-mounted hydraulic cylinders power presses and heavy-duty lifting platforms to carry out operations such as stamping, drawing and jacking. Such applications demand extremely high load capacity from the equipment. With high-strength clevis and eye structures, clevis mount hydraulic cylinders can withstand large push and pull loads and meet heavy-load demands for various industrial manufacturing applications.

Energy Production Equipment
Clevis mount hydraulic cylinders are widely used in energy production equipment. They connect to machinery via clevis pin joints and power the energy production equipment. Such applications demand rapid response and transmission accuracy from equipment. Clevis-mounted hydraulic cylinders feature zero transmission backlash and deliver lag-free power transfer with rapid response, ensuring transmission accuracy.

Agricultural Machinery
Clevis mount hydraulic cylinders are widely used on agricultural equipment such as tractors, combine harvesters and seeders. They serve as actuators that enable equipment to perform operations including lifting, tilting and compaction. Field operations demand convenient installation and removal and high maintenance efficiency. The clevis connection structure enables quick mounting and removal of cylinders, ensuring smooth field operations.
Pin Fracture on Clevis Mount Hydraulic Cylinders
Pin fracture is a common malfunction of clevis pin-mounted cylinders. If a radial oil hole on the pin is located in the area of maximum bending stress, stress concentration at the hole will significantly increase the risk of fracture. Furthermore, improper heat treatment of the pin is another cause of fracture, which may even lead to unplanned equipment shutdowns.
To solve these problems, we implement strict controls over the placement of radial oil holes. We avoid locating these holes on the side bearing peak bending stress. This mitigates stress concentration around the holes and reduces the risk of pin fracture. Next, we adopt high-performance materials and supply various premium alloy steels according to customers’ actual working conditions. In addition, we apply surface hardening to pins to ensure adequate strength and toughness. Most importantly, we maintain full-process quality control covering material selection, precision machining and assembly, ensuring long-term operational reliability of both hydraulic cylinders and pins.

Pin Lubrication Failure on Clevis-Mounted Hydraulic Cylinders
During operation of clevis mount hydraulic cylinders, heavy radial loads exist between the pin and bushing. Grease on their contact surfaces tends to be squeezed out. In addition, improper layout of grease passages impedes grease feeding. These factors cause poor pin lubrication, increasing rotational resistance, which can lead to shaft seizure and even pin fracture.
We have developed a systematic solution for this problem. We machine spiral grease grooves or diamond-shaped grease pockets on the pin’s load-bearing surfaces. The structure forms a hydrodynamic oil film while the cylinder works and expands grease storage, maintaining persistent lubrication on contact surfaces. Next, we use interconnected axial and radial cross grease passages to ensure that sufficient grease reaches all friction surfaces. Finally, we supply different greases based on actual operating conditions to minimize component wear.
